Masks remain essential for the protection of the campus community and the success of the Spring 2022 academic semester. The CCSU-AAUP Executive Committee, representing nearly 1,300 faculty members at CCSU, calls for the administration to maintain the mask mandate in all CCSU buildings through the end of the spring semester. Despite Governor Lamont’s announcement ending statewide school mask mandates, the current COVID-19 Omicron variant case rate is still higher than it was last year. We are hopeful the administration will this time respect shared governance, unlike when it designed the Spring 2022 “blueprint,” and include us in conversations regarding the mask mandate.
